Who Never Weep
💙
There was once a man Who as a youngin’ would cry Then caught his father’s hand So no more water for the eye He grew up good & strong An army man until age 25 When some shrapnel took his arm Nearly had him die Even through the pain He did not ever cry For it was an act of shame To cast rain from your eye Met love and made a family Everyday was a struggle But he never came up empty Putting food on the table One day she was his lover The next she was gone Now a single father Figuring out how to go on Through the long nights Into the early mornings He always set his sights To never show his mourning His daughter was pretty Had the world in her palm Until that night the city Was hit by a stray bomb For a little while All was the same Even when idle The tears never came But then the hole was dug And the angel was lowered The cork came unplugged And the river rushed forward He cried for his daughter For his wife, for his arm He cried and cried harder For all his past harm The world had got him He was broken & weak This is rock bottom For the strong who never weep
